Inevitable; LOTR fan builds hobbit home

From the San Francisco Gate.


The house was built by Simon Dale (and family and friends) in 3 months for an estimated 3,000 pounds (or roughly $4,700). It has natural insulation (the refrigerator is kept cool from air coming through the foundation); it's got a wood burner for heating; and it also has solar panels to power the lights, stereo, computers, etc..

I especially enjoy that he unashamedly put high tech gadgetry in the home. Man's got his priorities straight.

It looks so cozy inside! I hope he went untraditional and it allows us tall people to stand upright in it.
